Photon Academy provides practical technology education and related learning activities.
Photon Labs and PhotonCloud are developing initiatives and may not currently be available as fully operational commercial services.
When such services become available, additional service-specific terms may apply.
5. Enquiries and Quotations
An enquiry does not create an obligation for Photon to provide services.
Before work begins, Photon may request:
- ·clarification of requirements;
- ·technical information;
- ·a site assessment;
- ·a remote assessment;
- ·a project scope;
- ·required deliverables;
- ·access requirements; or
- ·other information necessary to prepare a quotation.
A quotation or proposal becomes binding only when accepted in the manner specified in that document or in another written agreement between the parties.
Unless otherwise stated, a quotation may be valid for 30 days from its issue date.
6. Scope of Work
Professional work will be performed according to the agreed scope.
The scope may define:
- ·services to be performed;
- ·deliverables;
- ·project assumptions;
- ·dependencies;
- ·responsibilities;
- ·timelines;
- ·fees;
- ·payment terms;
- ·hardware or software requirements; and
- ·support arrangements.
Work requested outside the agreed scope may be treated as additional work and may require a separate quotation or written change agreement.
7. Site Assessments
Where appropriate, Photon may perform an assessment before recommending or implementing a solution.
An assessment may involve reviewing:
- ·physical infrastructure;
- ·network topology;
- ·addressing;
- ·wireless coverage;
- ·servers;
- ·virtualisation;
- ·backup arrangements;
- ·monitoring;
- ·access controls;
- ·exposed services; and
- ·other relevant infrastructure.
Assessment findings depend on the information and access available at the time.
An assessment cannot guarantee that every technical issue, security weakness, or future failure will be identified.
8. Authorisation and Acceptable Use
You must have the legal authority to request Photon to access, configure, monitor, test, alter, or otherwise interact with an infrastructure, system, network, device, account, or service.
You must not ask Photon to access or modify systems that you do not own or have permission to administer.
You are responsible for obtaining all required permissions from owners, administrators, service providers, employees, tenants, or other relevant parties.
For CCTV work, you are responsible for having authority to install and operate cameras at the site and for complying with applicable privacy, employment, signage and recording requirements.
Photon may refuse or stop work where we reasonably believe that requested activity is unauthorised, unlawful, unsafe, or materially outside the agreed scope.
9. Customer Responsibilities
You agree to provide information and cooperation reasonably required to perform the engagement.
This may include:
- ·accurate technical information;
- ·appropriate access;
- ·site access where required;
- ·a suitable point of contact;
- ·required licences and permissions;
- ·relevant credentials or secure access mechanisms;
- ·information about existing infrastructure;
- ·timely decisions and approvals; and
- ·information about changes made by you or other providers.
Unless backup services are specifically included in the agreed scope, you remain responsible for maintaining appropriate backups of your systems and data.
10. Credentials and Access
Where Photon requires administrative access to perform agreed work, access should be provided using an appropriate and reasonably secure method.
Where possible:
- ·temporary accounts should be used;
- ·least-privilege access should be applied;
- ·passwords should not be unnecessarily shared;
- ·credentials should be changed or revoked when access is no longer required; and
- ·authentication information should be transferred through an appropriate secure channel.
Photon will not intentionally retain access credentials longer than reasonably necessary for the relevant purpose.
11. Implementation and Changes
Network, systems, infrastructure and surveillance work may affect service availability.
Where appropriate, Photon will plan changes with consideration for:
- ·maintenance windows;
- ·service dependencies;
- ·rollback procedures;
- ·backups;
- ·testing; and
- ·customer approval.
However, infrastructure changes may involve unavoidable operational risks.
The customer remains responsible for approving changes that affect its infrastructure unless the agreed engagement expressly provides otherwise.
12. Backup and Recovery
Where backup or recovery work forms part of an engagement, Photon may design, configure, test, or document backup processes according to the agreed scope.
Where a tested restore is included, the test demonstrates the recovery procedure under the conditions tested. It does not guarantee recovery from every possible future failure.
The customer remains responsible for identifying its business-critical data and agreeing appropriate recovery requirements.
13. Monitoring
Where monitoring is included in an engagement, Photon may configure monitoring systems, dashboards, alerting, or related infrastructure.
Monitoring does not guarantee detection of every event or failure.
Monitoring effectiveness depends on:
- ·available telemetry;
- ·network connectivity;
- ·configured thresholds;
- ·system availability;
- ·third-party services;
- ·correct configuration; and
- ·other technical conditions.
14. Infrastructure Security
Photon may implement security improvements such as:

- ·alerting.
Security measures reduce risk but cannot eliminate it completely.
Photon does not guarantee that a customer's infrastructure will never be breached, compromised, disrupted, or affected by vulnerabilities.
Photon is not responsible for security incidents resulting from circumstances outside the agreed scope or reasonable control, including customer changes, third-party services, previously unknown vulnerabilities, compromised credentials supplied by the customer, or external events.
15. Service Availability
Photon will make reasonable efforts to perform agreed work professionally and within the agreed timeframe.
However, timelines may depend on:
- ·customer availability;
- ·site access;
- ·hardware availability;
- ·software licensing;
- ·internet connectivity;
- ·third-party providers;
- ·supplier delays;
- ·technical dependencies; and
- ·circumstances beyond Photon's reasonable control.
No uninterrupted availability or specific completion time is guaranteed unless expressly agreed in writing.
16. Fees and Payment
Professional fees, payment schedules, deposits, expenses, and other charges will be specified in the applicable quotation or agreement.
Unless otherwise agreed:
- ·additional work may be charged separately;
- ·hardware, licences, subscriptions, hosting, and third-party services may be billed separately;
- ·supplier pricing may change;
- ·taxes or statutory charges applicable to the engagement may be payable as required by law; and
- ·work may be paused where agreed payments are overdue.
17. Hardware, Software and Third-Party Services
Photon may recommend or configure third-party hardware, software, hosting, cloud services, internet services, or other technology.
Third-party products and services remain subject to their respective providers' terms, warranties, availability, pricing, and limitations.
Photon is not responsible for failures caused by a third-party provider where that failure is outside Photon's reasonable control.
18. Intellectual Property
Photon retains ownership of its pre-existing:
- ·methods;
- ·templates;
- ·internal processes;
- ·reusable tools;
- ·general technical know-how;
- ·frameworks; and
- ·other materials developed independently of a specific customer deliverable.
Subject to full payment and the applicable agreement, the customer receives the rights to use project-specific deliverables created for that customer for its own legitimate business or operational purposes.
Third-party software, documentation, trademarks, and other third-party materials remain owned by their respective rights holders and are subject to their applicable licences.
19. Website Content and Photon Branding
The Photon website, including its text, design, branding, graphics, logos, and original materials, may not be copied, reproduced, redistributed, or commercially exploited without appropriate permission, except where permitted by applicable law.
Photon Teqnology and associated names or marks remain subject to applicable intellectual-property rights.
20. Confidentiality
Photon will treat non-public customer information obtained through a professional engagement as confidential and will use it only for legitimate purposes connected with the engagement, except where:
- ·disclosure is authorised;
- ·disclosure is necessary to provide the agreed service;
- ·disclosure is required by law; or
- ·disclosure is necessary to protect legal rights or address a serious security or safety issue.
The customer should also protect confidential information relating to Photon.
21. Data and Client Backups
The customer remains responsible for its own business data unless a specific agreement states otherwise.
Photon will take reasonable care when handling customer information during an engagement, but customers should maintain appropriate backups before significant infrastructure changes.
Photon is not responsible for data loss resulting from circumstances outside the agreed service scope or caused by customer actions, third-party systems, hardware failure, software defects, or other events outside Photon's reasonable control.
22. No Guarantee of Results
Technical engineering involves dependencies and risks that cannot always be predicted or controlled.
Photon will perform agreed services with reasonable care and according to the agreed scope.
However, Photon does not guarantee:
- ·uninterrupted operation;
- ·complete elimination of technical or security risks;
- ·compatibility with every third-party system;
- ·permanent resolution of every infrastructure issue;
- ·uninterrupted availability of third-party services; or
- ·a specific business result unless expressly agreed in writing.
23. Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Photon's total liability arising from a particular professional engagement will be limited to the fees actually paid for that engagement.
Photon will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or similar losses, including loss of profit, business opportunity, revenue, or data, except to the extent such limitation is prohibited by applicable law.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
24. Ending an Engagement
Either party may terminate an engagement in accordance with the applicable agreement.
If an engagement is ended, the customer remains responsible for:
- ·work already completed;
- ·approved expenses;
- ·non-cancellable third-party commitments;
- ·hardware or software already procured; and
- ·other amounts properly due under the agreement.
Where appropriate and subject to payment of amounts due, Photon will provide agreed deliverables and relevant handover information.
25. Events Outside Our Control
Photon will not be responsible for delays or failures caused by circumstances beyond reasonable control, including:

By using the website or providing personal information to Photon, you acknowledge that your information may be processed as described in that Privacy Policy and in accordance with applicable law.
27. Changes to These Terms
Photon may update these Terms when necessary to reflect changes to:
- ·our services;
- ·our website;
- ·technology;
- ·business practices; or
- ·applicable legal requirements.
The updated version will be published on this page with a revised effective date.
Changes to an existing professional engagement will not automatically modify the terms of a separately signed or accepted agreement unless the agreement permits such changes.
28. Governing Law
These Terms are intended to be governed by the applicable laws of the Republic of Cameroon, subject to any mandatory legal requirements that may apply.
29. Disputes
If a dispute arises, the parties should first attempt to resolve it through good-faith communication.
Where a dispute cannot be resolved informally, it may be referred to the competent courts of Cameroon, subject to applicable law and any dispute-resolution provisions contained in a specific written agreement.
30. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply to the extent permitted by law.
31. Entire Agreement
For a professional engagement, the applicable quotation, proposal, statement of work, contract, and other written documents accepted by the parties may contain additional terms.
These Terms, together with those applicable documents, form the basis of the relevant engagement.
